RFID v barcoding

smartag utilises RFID technology which has many advantages over the barcoding system, especially when used in facilities management environments:

• Data is stored on the tag, eliminating problems with no GSM signals to communicate

• Barcode labels do fade and become unreadable

• RFID can read through a build up of grease, dirt and paint

• RFID tags can be re-used and reprogrammed

• Tags do not require line-of-sight to communicate

• Where equipment is tagged in low light conditions (above ceilings) data can be read.
